Complimentary Collections - Five Canadian Art and Luxury Automobile Pairings

Over the past decade of exhibiting my paintings inspired by Canada, I have been fortunate to reach new audiences through working with unique venues often outside the traditional art gallery. Whether it be a Canadian National Sports venue, an artist run centre, a corporate head office lobby, or city utilities exterior property; I have had some fun with shaking up the idea of where art should be displayed.

Over the past four years I have exhibited my work on and off with a luxury used automobile showroom in Victoria, BC; Victoria Premium Automobiles. A showroom filled with collector’s automobiles with names like Porsche, BMW, Austin Healey, Mercedes, and Ferrari.

As I work towards a new exhibition alongside these beauties of speed, I am thinking about which cars would be on my wish list to pair with these new paintings. We pair the flavours of great wines with our food, why not pair your taste in luxury automobiles with your love of art. After all, the craftsmanship that goes into creating a luxury ride, is no different than the unique creative process a painter goes through in painting a new work of art.

With these things in mind, I created my ultimate list pairing iconic Canadian art with beautiful automobiles. Five cars paired with five Canadian paintings.

5. Porsche 911 Turbo 930 1977-1989 and Roy Henry Vickers

4. 1956 Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing and Alex Colville

3. BMW X6 Xdrive 5.0i 2012 and John Kissick

2. Ferrari 250 GT Spyder California SWB and Jack Bush

1.       Tesla Model X and Lawren Harris

You can currently view paintings from the #ICONICCANUCK collection, alongside some beautiful automobiles, at Victoria Premium Automobiles until January 2016.
